The AFA Barbara Rabinowitz Education & Resource Center will provide vital support and services for the more than 60,000 Long Islanders living with Alzheimer’s or related dementias, and thousands of family and professional caregivers in need.

Centrally located in Amityville, NY, the soon to be opened 11,500 square foot, state-of-the-art center — the first of its kind on Long Island — will be accessible to the nearly 3 million residents of Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Services will include:

  • Daily enrichment and therapeutic programs
  • Caregiver support groups
  • Educational workshops
  • Sensory rooms
  • Intergenerational activities
  • Memory screenings

Specialized training for members of Long Island’s workforce who serve individuals living with dementia and their families, including health care workers, social workers, municipal employees, and other professions will be available as well.
