The first thought that comes to mind when we hear “dementia” is typically Alzheimer’s disease. Yet more than 1.5 million people in the United States have other types of dementia and dementia-related illnesses. The progression of neurodegenerative diseases and their symptoms are different, depending on the types of dementia. Therefore, treatment can look different, as well as responding to behavioral symptoms.
This workshop will take an in-depth exploration of two other common types of dementia: Lewy body dementia (LBD) and frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). For each type, attendees will learn about causes, risk factors, symptoms and treatment. Mostly importantly, attendees will learn about how to cope and support through the shared journey of caregiving by Jackie Shapiro, Ambassador of the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, and Norma Loeb, founder and Executive Director of the Lewy Body Resource Center. Join us for this educational, thought-provoking, and heartfelt event. Not to be missed!
