Professional Training Webinar: AFA Partners In Care: Supporting Individuals Living with Dementia

Course Description:  This course is provided as a LIVE Webinar, with opportunities throughout to ask questions and share thoughts. “AFA Partners in Care: Supporting Individuals Living with Dementia” training seeks to equip myriad health care professionals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to work effectively with individuals living with dementia, their families, and colleagues.

This Professional LIVE Webinar training highlights AFA’s philosophy of care which is focused on relationship-building. The person-centered approach values and promotes the unique strengths, goals, and humanity of each individual, involves interdisciplinary collaboration among care providers, and places individuals with dementia and their families at the center of decision­ making. Throughout the Webinar, participants will be encouraged to share and reflect upon their experiences working with this population, and identify their professional strengths and areas for professional growth, aiming for the participants to increase their awareness and critical thinking in this work.

1:30 pm – 2:15 pm – Module 5: Facilitating Personal Care

2:15 pm – 3:00 pm – Module 6: Promoting Safety and Security

3:00 pm – 3:45 pm – Module 7: Care Transitions

3:45 pm – 4:30 pm – Module 8: End of Life

4:30 pm – 5:00 pm – Module 9: Self Care

Course Cancellation/Refund Policy: (Cancellation Policy for all Educational Programming) AFA encourages participants to make every effort to attend the event for which they have registered. All refunds for educational programming, including training and workshops, are subject to a $30.00 administrative processing fee. Refunds will not be given for no-shows.

Jurisdictional Approvals: Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Inc. SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0222.  This program is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval # 886446769-1298) for 6 continuing education contact hours.

AFA Partners in Care: Supporting Individuals Living with Dementia, Course #3132, is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Alzheimer’s Foundation of America as an individual course. Individual courses, not providers, are approved at the course level. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 06/17/2020 – 06/17/2022. Social workers completing this course receive 6 General Social Work Practice continuing education credits.
