Virtual Community Class: Creative Arts with Marnie

January 24, 2022 @ 2:30 pm EST

Creative Arts with Marnie

Presented by: Marnie Herlands

Join Creative Arts Therapist Marnie Herlands, MS, ATR-BC, LCAT, yoga teacher for a virtual art experience! During this community art class, participants will be led through mindful deep breaths to be grounded and present, and then invited to create art. You will create one or more abstract paintings on white paper using cotton string or yarn (instead of a paint brush) to create a unique work of art. During this process, you will learn to paint with found objects (or non-traditional materials). Marnie will walk you through each step and join you in creating abstract art that can be reflective of your mood, feelings, or your unique artistic journey. No prior art-making experience needed!

Materials needed: blank white paper, 2-3 colors of acrylic or tempera paints, cotton string/twine or yarn, 2-3 popsicle sticks or chop sticks. Optional materials: masking tape and sharpie marker.

This event will take place at the AFA Teal Room: www.alzfdn.org/afatealroom.
