Virtual Community Class: Art with Marnie

November 30, 2020 @ 2:30 pm EST

Join Marnie Herlands, MS, ART-BC, LCAT for a virtual art therapy session! During this virtual community art session, you will be led through a brief mindful breathing exercise and then learn to create a freeform weaving using basic materials, including cardboard and yarn. Marnie will demonstrate how to create your own weaving loom and then how to construct your personal soft arts weaving. In addition to learning this technique, you can enjoy the benefits of the repetitive action of weaving, which can be both stimulating and soothing. With this, you are encouraged to consider the colors that you choose to work with and whether they have specific meaning for you! For example, your color choices can relate to your mood/emotions or can be reminiscent of an experience or personal expression or statement that you want to make. No prior art making experience needed!

Just bring yourself and the supplies: Cardboard cut into a rectangle or circle or a sturdy paper plate for your weaving loom, Yarn in a variety of colors and weights (and ribbon if desired), A pair of scissors, 1 popsicle stick, masking tape and plastic pony beads (optional).

This event will take place on AFA’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/alzheimersfoundationofamerica.
