Virtual Community Class: Art with Marnie

July 15, 2020 @ 2:30 pm EDT

Join Marnie Herlands, MS, ART-BC, LCA for a virtual art therapy session! During this virtual class, you will be creating heart shaped pillows, or creating a drawing within the shape of a heart. The process of creating a pillow (which involves sewing or knotting which is repetitive) can be self-soothing and gratifying. Perhaps, your pillow will be comforting to hold onto or look at, and can contain special meaning. Everyone is encouraged to consider what you hold closest to your heart or what your heart needs more of, during this time.

Supplies: Two pieces of fabric. Felt fabric sheets or fleece are recommended but you can use any fabric that you have on hand (i.e. remnants of clothing you no longer wear, or bed sheets or pillow cases you want to repurpose). In addition, you will need soft stuffing (polyester fiber fill –  this can also come from a pillow you no longer use), or cut up foam pieces or uncooked rice. Also, you will need scissors, and a needle and thread, if you are sewing (no sew option will also be demonstrated). AND / OR white paper, drawing materials, and craft glue (optional).

This virtual community class will be held through our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/alzheimersfoundationofamerica.  Visit the page at the listed event date/time to take part.
