AFA Teal Room: Creative Arts with Marnie
March 31, 2022 @ 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
Join Art Therapist Marnie Herlands, MS, ATR-BC, LCAT, for a virtual art experience! Participants will be led through a brief mindful breathing practice and create branch weavings. We will create a weaving loom using branches. First, gather and choose 3-4 sturdy branches, or one large branch shaped like a “V” or “U”. Be sure to choose branches that speak to you in some way, taking into consideration the shape, color, texture, and sturdiness.
*Note: if you are unable to gather branches, you can use cardboard to create your loom.
Choose yarn (and beads, if you’d like) in a range of colors. We will create a unique weaving, have fun, be creative, and relax in the process. Marnie will discuss suggested art materials and demonstrate this process! No prior art making experience needed! Just bring yourself and the art supplies listed below:
- 2-4 sturdy branches or 1 V or U-shaped branch
- Yarn in a range of colors (optional: look for different weights and textures)
- Craft glue (optional: hot glue)
- Scissors
- Beads (optional)
This event will take place at the AFA Teal Room: www.alzfdn.org/afatealroom.
