AFA Caregiver Support Groups
Connecting with others is a vital part of the caregiving equation, but caregivers are often unable to attend in-person support groups for a variety of reasons. To that end, AFA offers free, weekly telephone-based support groups for caregivers. Groups are led by AFA’s licensed social workers and are designed to give caregivers a place to connect and share with one another. Call AFA’s national toll-free helpline at 866-232-8484 and speak with one of our licensed social workers for more information.
As always, caregivers can also get assistance and support by calling AFA’s national toll-free helpline at 866-232-8484.
Two New Telephone-Based Support Groups Starting this April!
You Are Not Alone: Young-Onset Peer Support Group
4 consecutive Tuesdays, starting April 3rd
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm (EST)
A diagnosis of young-onset Alzheimer’s disease and dementia related illnesses can bring major changes to a partner, family member, child or friend. You don’t have to deal with these challenges alone! In this support group, family and friends can discuss the challenges that may arise in a relationship with an individual living with young-onset.
Caring for Aging Parents Support Group
4 consecutive Wednesdays, starting April 4th
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm (EST)
There are many complexities involved as our parents age. What do I need to know, when do I start, where can I turn? This group invites adult children to share and connect regarding experiences they are having while beginning to, or in the midst of, supporting an aging parent.
