Contribute to AFAPlanned GivingMaking a planned gift to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America is a special way to help ensure that individuals with Alzheimer's disease or a related illness and their families have access to optimal care and support services for years to come. Planned giving integrates your charitable gift with your overall financial, tax and estate planning goals to maximize your benefits while contributing to making a difference in the lives of Americans touched by this heartbreaking disease. Currently, AFA welcomes gifts established through Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, or Wills and Bequests. The information that follows provides a basic overview of these gift vehicles. We would be delighted to discuss these and other options with you to find the best fit for your situation. Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts can help you meet a number of financial goals. Working with financial planners and attorneys, we can create an annuity or remainder trust designed to meet your needs. Funded by cash or securities, they can provide income to you for retirement, educational expenses or other needs, and give a gift to our organization. The benefits will vary depending on which option you choose, how well it is funded, and at what stage in your life you begin, but the advantages remain the same: provision of annual payments to you or another recipient; reduction of taxes owed; and avoidance of capital gains taxes on appreciated securities. AFA receives either an outright gift, which provides substantial tax savings to the donor, or the remaining value of the trust upon expiration. Bequests in your will not only reduce estate taxes, but provide a legacy of support for families affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. A bequest can be established easily. To leave a percentage of your estate or a specific piece of real estate to AFA, you can state in your will: "I give, devise and bequeath to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 (percent) of my estate (or specific piece of real estate). You may wish to leave residue of your estate to the foundation. The residue is the portion left over after you have provided for your heirs. You may do this by including in your will the sentence: "All the residue of my estate, including real and personal property, I give, devise and bequeath to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001." AFA is grateful to you for considering us as the recipient of your generosity. Please contact our development department at 866.AFA.8484 to discuss planned giving options or to let us know of your intent to include the foundation in your charitable gift planning.
